If you are looking for a really effective fat-burning & fitness workout, pick up a kettlebell and join us for this express workout!
We don’t use heavy weights so you will not create muscle bulk, but your body will become leaner & more toned and you will feel fitter in a short space of time.
What does a kettlebell express class involve?
This 30-minute class is a low-impact, energetic workout using a kettlebell to tone and strengthen your whole body. There is no jumping, no running and no complicated choreography and you work at your own pace.
The online class consists of traditional kettlebell exercises such as swings, pulls, cleans and snatches, as well as squats, lunges, presses and deadlifts to give you a really functional workout. Each class also includes some great mat-work exercises to add an extra focus on your core strength. We perform each exercise for 30-60 seconds and you take a breather whenever you need to during the session.
The goal of the class is to promote fat-loss and create lean body tone.
This is achieved by something called PHA (peripheral heart action) training which involves alternating exercises that work the lower body and then the upper body, or the front and then the back of the body. PHA training requires the body to quickly shunt blood from one extremity to the other, which helps us to maintain an intensity that uses more energy and burns more calories both during and after the class.
Due to the dynamic nature of this session, if you are not familiar with using a kettlebell, please contact me to arrange an online coaching session before booking your first class.
What is a kettlebell?
A kettlebell is a cast-iron weight, which looks like a cannonball with a handle on top. They became popular as a weight training tool in the late 19th century and traditional kettlebell training uses heavy weights.
For the kettlebell express class, we keep the weights lighter so that we can maintain good technique & posture. I tend to use a 6kg kettlebell when I’m teaching. Some women use a lighter weight and some prefer to go heavier. Men also tend to go for a heavier weight.
What do I need for the class?
- obviously, you will need a kettlebell! Please get in touch if you are not sure what weight to choose
- you will need suitable fitness clothing and supportive shoes (or bare feet if you prefer)
