I am passionate about walking. It’s one of my favourite ways to travel & I find it really empowering to know that I can get from A to B, relying only on my feet. I never come back from a walk feeling worse than when I set out – mentally & physically walking is like balm to my soul!
I am a firm believer in the philosophy ‘solvitur ambulando’ – it is solved by walking.

The benefits of walking:
- there are so many physical health gains – muscle strength, bone density, joint health & heart health are all positively affected by walking
- walking boosts our mood & reduces stress by releasing natural chemicals (serotonin, dopamine & endorphins) that make us feel good
- time outside, away from technology & the increasing ‘noise’ of everyday life, is a brilliant way to reset our mental health, helping us to cope more easily when we return
- the action of taking one step at a time is a great metaphor for life in general
- better sleep from exposure to natural light which helps to maintain our internal body clock
- the rhythm of walking helps our creative thought processes to flow
- connecting with nature strengthens our connection with the environment as a whole, and more than ever, the world needs more of us to care
- walking in a group offers social benefits – connection with others, friendship, support, laughter & shared achievements
taylor-made walks
As a qualified lowland walk leader, I offer guided, group walks in & around Kent, Surrey & East Sussex:
- women’s wellbeing walks – these walks are typically 3 hours long, covering approx 8km (5 miles), at a comfortable pace for the group, with lots of opportunities to help you feel reconnected with nature along the way. I always try to include some nuggets of local interest about the area we are exploring as well as taking some mindful pauses in the landscape.
- monthly guided walks – these walks are typically 4-5 hours long, covering 13-18km (8-11 miles), at a pace that is comfortable for the group. These walks are open to men and women. Ideally participants will have some previous walking experience, but we will still go at a steady pace with time to explore our surroundings.
Dogs: I find that guided walks are much more enjoyable for everyone if we leave our canine companions at home, so please note that all my walks are dog-free.
Having recently completed some additional training, I am a delighted to be a North Downs Way Ambassador and I look forward to sharing the North Downs with you on some of our walks.
If you’re new to walking, I promise you’ll be amazed at how quickly your body adapts to walking distances that may be slightly longer than you are used to.
Whichever type of walk you choose, we’ll try to have fun too!
