weekly update 8th October
Welcome to my weekly update!
Following this week’s dramatic change in the weather I can now confirm that it is officially autumn…the tortoise has been brought in from her ‘hibernation pit’ in the garden, she’s been bathed and dried, she’s poohed on the floor (!) and now she’ll drive us mad pacing about for the next few weeks until she settles behind the TV for her long sleep!
I’ve got some great information for you this week:
- I’ve had a tip-off from Naomi that Sweatshop in Maidstone have a 40th birthday celebration on this weekend giving you a fantastic 25% off everything in store! Get yourself there to buy all your winter kit at even better prices than usual…I’ll be there tomorrow stocking up on new trail shoes and trainers!
- I posted this link a few weeks ago but a few people have been asking me for advice on hormones so I thought I’d post it again. If you are female and struggling to understand why your body is not the shape it used to be and/or why it’s harder to lose weight as you get older, you need to watch this amazing lecture from Jade Teta. It’s fairly in-depth but hang in there or stop & start so that you can absorb the information – feel free to share it with any of your female friends who have the same issues: watch the video here
- I saw an article this week about the wonders of cocoa! Since it seems to be a common topic of conversation I’ve copied the article and added it as a separate blog post so that you can ease your guilty conscience if you feel the need?! (Please note that it does talk about real chocolate…not the stuff you find in the purple wrapper!!)
- Stress is a huge part of many people’s lives and it can have serious health implications as well as inhibiting the body’s ability to lose fat. With this in mind I thought I would share a video link with you which I was sent this week by Lincoln Bryden. The video shows Julio Papi teaching a Powerstretch masterclass which you can follow along at home – I’ll definitely be giving this a go! watch the video here
I’m still going with my cleanse and detox. I’ve completed phase one which involves taking herbal supplements to cleanse the major organs of the body, removing toxins from the system Phase two started this morning – for the next 2-3 weeks I’ll be taking a supplement which restores all the good bacteria in the body, some of which inevitably get removed during phase one. A client told me today that she was glad I’d started phase two as I’d been looking really rough this week!! Hopefully she’ll notice that I’m glowing with health again by the end of phase two…! (I had a long bath and a face pack earlier this evening on the grounds that it couldn’t hurt…? You can follow my detox progress here.
Bootcamp updates:
Following on from my questions last week I have decided that the 9am sessions will change to run in line with the 6.15am sessions from January, in that they will run in four-week blocks instead of the current three weeks. There will be no change for the rest of this year as the current block ends for the main half term week and then November & December run concurrently as a six-week block, finishing mid-December. I will post the dates for next year shortly along with the new payment links for those who pay monthly.
I had some really kind feedback about the mats, many of you saying that you didn’t expect me to buy mats or that you were happy to be given the ones we are currently using. I have decided to buy enough additional mats so that there are enough, including the ones I already have, for everyone to take one. I will let you know when this has been done.
While I am ordering mats I can also order skipping ropes for anyone who wants one? They cost £6 each and come in three lengths (8ft – teal handles; 9ft – purple handles; 10ft – black handles). Please email me (jane@taylormadefitness.biz) if you would like me to order one for you.
Looking to the week ahead I have decided to do a Fitness Pilates session for you at the 9am bootcamp this Wednesday – since I did my training a couple of weeks ago I have been trying this out with my PT clients and have had some really positive feedback so I thought I’d let my 9am bootcampers try it too… You might want to wear an extra layer that day as you won’t be jumping around as much as usual, but rest assured you’ll still be working fairly hard!
I am also running another bleep test session for anyone that wants to join in? It will be on Monday morning after bootcamp – we’ll start as soon as possible after 9.50am and it will take about 20 mins. It’s a non-competitive test. Stay on after bootcamp if you want to test your cardio-vascular fitness along with me…
6.15am @ DCPS:
- Monday – lactic legs
- Wednesday – ME 18
- Friday – hi/lo Tabatas
9am @ Benenden:
- Monday – bodyshock drills (& optional bleep test)
- Tuesday – ME 9
- Wednesday – Fitness Pilates (if you have a yoga mat you could bring it with you; if not we’ll just use 2 of the usual mats)
- Thursday – ME 10
- Friday – CV drills & thrills
I think that’s everything I need to share with you…please let me know if you have any questions about any of the content here or any topics that you would like me to include in future.
Keep moving & have a great rest of weekend
Jane x
