weekly update w/c 11th July 2011

Hello!

OMG some schools have broken up already – it’s nearly the summer!! Will someone tell the weather man please? I’m seriously missing the heat and sunshine we had in April & I’d like some more…I always feel that everything is SO much nicer when the sun is shining.

If you are worrying how you will stay fit over the summer holidays don’t forget that you can bring your children to bootcamp. They are very welcome to play on the field and they may also be able to join in with bootcamp if they want to (strictly under your supervision!). My children used to sit through me doing 2 classes every day of the holidays when they were younger – I figured that if I couldn’t exercise I wouldn’t be very nice to live with so it was a small price for them to pay…! I know it won’t be everyone’s choice but if you are worried about missing your exercise time, why not give it a try and see how you get on.

Don’t forget that you can also come to the early sessions at 6.15am (Mons, Weds & Fridays) if that fits around family life more easily – it really is great to be up and out early in the day…honest! It works the other way too – if you normally come to the early session but don’t have to be up so soon in the holidays, why not treat yourself to a lie-in and come along at 9am?? (Mon & Weds). Participants from both groups are also welcome to use up their sessions by coming along on Monday nights to join Super-Circuits at 7pm in the Sports Hall at DCPS. Ooh decisions, decisions…!?!

Please note that anyone who pays by monthly subscription NOT wishing to come to the 9am bootcamp sessions over the summer needs to drop me an email so that I can refund your August payment to you. If I haven’t heard from you I will assume that you plan to come to some of the sessions in which case I will calculate money owed (either way) and adjust your payment accordingly at the end of August before I go on holiday.  If you have a block of 10 sessions you don’t need to do anything as they will carry over until September.

The 9am sessions run as follows:

  • 11th-15th July – every day at 9am as usual
  • 18th July-19th August – every Monday & Wednesday at 9am.

Hope that’s covered everything but please give me a shout if you are still not entirely sure what’s happening over the summer.

With the summer holidays in mind I have just bought myself a couple of nutrition books (and a couple of novels too!) so I’ll update you on my findings shortly. I went for ‘The Paleo Diet’ by Loren Cordain and ‘The New Evolution Diet’ by Professor Arthur De Vany – both fairly similar in their approach to eating for health and weight management. They both advocate getting closer to eating as our ancestors did – natural foods, no grains and no dairy – and I firmly believe that this is the only way to move away from the current obesity epidemic that is unique to our era. I will kep you posted in my findings and share some of the ideas and recipes with you in coming weeks…

So enough about the summer and eating – here’s your bootcamp update for the coming week:

6.15am @ DCPS: week 3 of 4

  • Monday – Whole body accumulator 3
  • Wednesday – ME 7
  • Friday – CV drills and thrills 3

9am @ Benenden: week 3 of 3 – expect some tough stuff, but don’t be scared I’ll still give options where required!

  • Monday – Power 50/10
  • Tuesday – ME 9
  • Wednesday – Weighted metabolic circuit 3
  • Thursday – ME 13
  • Friday – High intensity accumulator

Enjoy whatever you are doing this weekend and make sure you get yourself to bootcamp in the  week – I love it when you come to bootcamp!
