weekly update w/c 13th June 2011

Hello!

So last Monday we had rain! What’s that all about? It was the first wet bootcamp for months so a special thanks & well done to all of you who came along and enjoyed a shower while you were working out! V. impressed!!

However, I’m not impressed that no-one wants a pair of free tickets to see Tony Christie on 26th June! He’s probably not first on my list either but it is a FREE night out…so the first person to email me to say they can use the tickets can have them. Someone very kindly gave them to me to give to you so I will be really embarrassed if I have to go back to her and say that no-one wants them! Help me out – please?! Update: tickets have now been allocated so please don’t email me! :)

Now that we are running with the ME sessions 3 times a week I thought it would be useful to add an article about the rest-based concept which is crucial to these workouts. It takes a bit of a mind-set change to embrace this idea, but it underpins the whole concept. In a nutshell we need to move away from ‘coasting’ through a workout (ie. keeping going with poor quality moves or switching to one/no dumbbells) and move towards really pushing ourselves and then taking a recovery when we need to.

Have a read of this short article from the Metabolic Effect team and let me know if you have any questions:

So here’s the plan for the week ahead so you can decide which ones you fancy…

6.15am @ DCPS: we’re into week 3 already so expect more CV, harder intervals and more demanding ME! You will need your dumbbells for all 3 sessions this week – if you don’t have them yet I will still have some body bars in my car…but not for much longer!

  • Monday – Partner work 3
  • Wednesday – ME
  • Friday – Bodyshock drills 3

9am @ Benenden: we are starting week 2 so things will get a little more challenging this week – expect more CV and more intensity but remember that you will still have options to work at your own level. If you have them you will need your dumbbells on Tuesday and Thursday only this week – if you haven’t got them yet, get them soon!

  • Monday – CV drills & thrills
  • Tuesday – ME
  • Wednesday – Lactic Legs with pulse razors!
  • Thursday – ME
  • Friday – 45/15 circuit

This is the week that I have been waiting for! Obviously I’m excited to be working with all of you but also my parents are on their way down from Scotland to stay for a week so that my lovely Dad can do all the household DIY jobs that I can’t do. Dad’s are FAB!

This morning I’ve stripped and remade my bed, moved all the stuff I will need into the spare room where I’ll be sleeping this week, laid out fresh towels in the style of a boutique hotel (!) and now I have to clean the whole house – because that’s what you have to do when your Mum’s coming to stay!

So I’ll get on with that now & see you soon
