Did you miss the bootcamp trial sessions today?
The very first taylor-made fitness bootcamp sessions took place this morning! If you were there, read on for an action replay; if you missed it, read on to see what you missed…
The first session was attended by 8 willing ‘victims’ at DCPS. At 6.15am we made our way across to the lacrosse pitches so we’d be bathed in the early morning sunshine when the clouds broke! Here’s the lowdown on the session:
- after a warm-up and a few stretches to make sure the muscles were awake, we kicked off with a squat matrix – moving the feet through 27 different positions
- then it was on to a series of alternating static abdominal holds interspersed with light jogging, followed by
- walking lunges around the perimeter of the pitch, playing catch up from the back of the pack (well done Anna for 2 in a row!)
- after a drink and breather, there was time for a team game – which resulted in a dead-heat!
- next came a shoulder matrix to focus on the upper body and give the legs a rest
- the whole session ended with dynamic Tabatas – which everyone loved!!!
Sadly the sun didn’t quite make it through the clouds, but everyone survived their first bootcamp & went home looking forward to a hot shower and a bit of breakfast.
After my breakfast and a cup of tea, I headed back out for the second session in Benenden, at the much more leisurely time of 9.15am.
My 4 (slightly apprehensive) ladies met me by the Village Hall and we moved across to the playing field to get moving. The session followed a similar format, but with a few variations such as the addition of a series of lunges and a square drill combining side steps, hopscotch and reverse jogging.
The group was fantastic and kept going for the whole session, which was really impressive given that no-one had exercised regularly for some time.
I’d like to thank everyone who took part – it was great to share the first sessions with such enthusiastic volunteers & I hope I’ll see you all at bootcamp again soon.
Bootcamp Courses go live from Monday 4th October – now you know a little bit more about what’s involved, sign up today and make sure you don’t miss out!
Warning: bootcamp sessions will seriously improve your fitness levels & change your body shape!
Really enjoyed the bootcamp session, particularly the variation. It’s especially nice to be out doors – but will it be the same in January?!
It was a really good taster session today which eased us in nicely, but I am not under any illusions that things will get much tougher in the future – knowing you:-)
Good at getting the heart racing, faced glowed red all morning! Sure my legs will ache this week.
I FELT ENERGISED UNTIL TEATIME! THANK YOU FOR WAKING UP MY WEEK.
Thanks for all your feedback – does it help to know that I’m aching a bit today (Tues) too?!
Interestingly, I am aching today! I did follow your advice though and went for a run this morning.
Just goes to show that we can all get in to a rut – amazing to be challenged with some different exercises and best of all to be doing it outside!
Great, really enjoyed it, and meeting other “Bootcampers”
I love the Benenden bootcamp. missing it this week being half term & can’t wait to restart next week! It’s so lovely to exercise in the open air & I really loved the boxing bit….challenging but such fun. The last session went so quickly as I was enjoying it so much. Nice to meet other people too. My muscles really protested afterwards but it was a ‘good’ ache & I was walking on air from the exercise in the sunshine.
Cant wait until monday!
