What is TRX?

Born in the U.S. Navy SEALs and developed by Fitness Anywhere®, Suspension Training® is a revolutionary method of leveraged bodyweight exercise.

In wharf side warehouses, urban safe-houses, on ships and submarines, Randy Hetrick, founder of Fitness Anywhere®, and his Navy SEAL teammates needed a way to stay in peak condition. But the circumstances of these missions often found the SEALs without traditional fitness equipment and with very limited training space.

The TRX Suspension Trainer evolved as an answer. It started as a few lengths of parachute webbing hand-stitched together with rubber boat repair tools. In the weeks and months that followed, Hetrick and his SEAL teammates developed a growing array of body weight exercises specifically designed for this unique training harness. They laid the foundations upon which an entirely new category of functional training would emerge – Suspension Training.

Today, TRX Suspension Training is used for elite units in every branch of the Armed Forces and in the training rooms of every major professional sport in the US. But TRX Suspension Training is not just for elite performers – it is equally beneficial to everyone looking to improve their fitness, to seniors and to those who require injury rehabilitation.

The TRX provides the ideal mix of support and mobility and participants are able to alter the level of resistance by changing their body position and angle. Every Suspension Training exercise builds truly functional strength and improves flexibility, balance and core stability all at once.

I use the TRX mostly in persoanl training sessions, but it will creep into Bootcamp courses and Super-Circuits classes too from time to time!

I have included some more examples of TRX exercises below:
